Listen to the End of World War I

Updated: Nov 11

Every year, November 11 marks the end of the War to End All Wars. With an agreement signed in the early morning hours of 11/11/1918, the guns would fall silent at 11:00am and the war would be over.

With the help of production company Coda to Coda, an audio recreation of the actual sounds of the end of World War I has been released.

Six microphones captured the event near the American line near River Moselle. As you listen, you can hear the artillery barrages slowly fade away as the eleventh hour draws near. Then, the guns fall silent. They are replaced by the sound of birds chirping.
